What Between Stations means to me
A British Film Producer's View

Andy Willoughby has been a mentor to me since I first wrote a play at Teesside University in 2011 called “Staggered” in Andy’s MA Playwriting module and I have learnt a great deal under Andy’s tutelage both scholarly and professionally. To me, from a multimedia point of view, Between Stations combines two of my professional skills in live stage performance and film content creation, with the addition of an international setting. This project also adds to my skills as an international camera operator and sound mixer for the digital content required as well as flexing my developing documentary making muscles. In terms of professional collaboration, working alongside the musicians, poets and supporting crew on this project is a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase my skills on another international stage. In terms of filmmaking logistics, the requirements for this shoot are unlike any I’ve ever done before and from equipment to practicalities, I believe this shoot and edit will be crucial to my development as a professional producer of film and media content.

Personally, though, the chance to work with one of my most respected mentors is an opportunity I am delighted to take on and I’m approaching this project with my usual enthusiasm and determination. I am very much looking forward to the challenge of shooting in a country that I have never personally visited before and it is the international flavour of the source material intertwined with Andy’s Teesside voice that I am relishing about the project.
