Between Stations Live is an ongoing project to create a live performance based on the poetry book by Andy Willoughby, Between Stations (Smokestack Books 2016) using multimedia, live and recorded music, stand up travelogue and documentary footage. Both the book and the show examine a road trip to Siberia whilst travelling through the dead remnants of the last steelworks of Teesside. The show investigates what it means to be caught between stations in an existential as well as a physical way. It juxtaposes the humour of a manic beat trip with a colder contemplation of what industry meant to the Northern working class and the tribal peoples of the World. It also contemplates a personal confrontation with mortality.
